Summary
The Sud Aviation Caravelle was a pioneering airliner of the 1950s.
It bridged the gap between the earliest jet airliners, like the de Havilland Comet, Boeing 707 and Douglas DC-8, which were designed to fly longer distances, and the later breed of short- and medium-haul jets like the BAC 1-11, Douglas DC-9 and Boeing 737.
Over a period of around 20 years, many different Caravelle variants were developed to cater for different needs, and to try and capture more sales from the world’s airlines. The last ones were built in the late 1970s, and by the 1990s very few remained in service.
The final examples flew in Africa in the early 2000s, and now none are actively flying.
As aviation enthusiasts and plane spotters, catching up with the surviving examples of these old airliners can be a very enticing prospect. So here we have a list of the known Caravelle survivors around the world.

There’s a Caravelle at CMH
Thanks John! Yes under United States we’ve listed that one, a former Airborne Express machine.
F-GCVM remains stored at Marseille Airport yet is excluded from the article and the Survivors section of your book.
Thanks David! I’ve added it to the list.
In Maroc there are two preserved, but both are only forward fuselage sections. I pictured the one in Mohamedia but never got to see the one in Marrakech.
SE-DAF is preserved in Åbo, Finland, restored into Finnair livery with fake ID as gate guard.
SE-DAA everything but the cockpit still visible at Arlanda used as ground trainer with fire deoartment.
SE-DAF (c/n 112) is moved from Arlanda to Turku Airport, Finland and now registered as OH-LEA. Its open for public starting from summer 2024. More details: https://www.caravelle-projekti.fi/
The cockpit section of F-BHRU is undergoing restoration to become a simulator in Bunge, Gotland Sweden. Also, same aircraft, 1964 carried the Beatles between Manchester and Paris and they found John Lennon’s “ticket to ride” during the current restoration tucked away next to the fuselage
