When British Airways merged (some would call it a takeover) with British Caledonian in 1987, it inherited a fleet of McDonnell Douglas DC-10 aircraft operated by the airline at its London Gatwick base.
While these aircraft did not fit in with the established British Airways and widebody fleets, they were retained to operate select long-haul routes until as late as 1999.
With that in mind, we thought we’d take a look at the fleet and what happened to the aircraft once British Airways retired them.
