Virgin Atlantic today took delivery of its first Airbus A330neo aircraft.
The aircraft is A330-941 G-VJAZ (cn 2018) and was delivered direct from the Airbus factory at Toulouse to Virgin’s main operating base at London Heathrow on the afternoon of 15 October.
There has been a lot of hype around this new addition to Virgin’s fleet, with pictures of the aircraft surfacing shortly after it was painted.
A delay of a couple of weeks meant the aircraft arrived later than planned, but is still expected to go into service on the airline’s London Heathrow to Boston route by the end of October.
Virgin Atlantic has 16 A330neo aircraft on order. They are being used as direct replacements for the airline’s older A330-300 models, and also to allow expansion of its route network.
