IAG has confirmed plans for a new low-cost, long-haul airline to be based initially at Barcelona El Prat airport from June 2017.
The airline will be called Level, and will start services by connecting Barcelona with the following destinations:
- Buenos Aires (from 17 June)
- Los Angeles International (from 1 June)
- Oakland International (from 2 June)
- Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) (from 10 June)
Level will operate two brand new Airbus A330-200s, operated by Iberia crews, with more aircraft and destinations expected to be rolled out over time.
The airline will be based out of the same terminal as IAG’s other low-cost airline, Vueling, at Barcelona. It is thought that Vueling will act as a feeder carrier for Level, and vice versa.
IAG CEO Willie Walsh said: “Level will become IAG’s fifth main airline brand alongside Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia and Vueling.”
