Lao Airlines has become only the second airline outside of China to take delivery of a COMAC airliner.

The aircraft is a C909, previously known as the ARJ21-700, and features the airline’s attractive blue and white livery featuring the Champa flower on the tail – the national symbol of Laos.

It is the first of two of the type that the airline has on order.  Lao Airlines also has orders for two of the larger C919 aircraft.

Based in Vientiane, the C909 will begin service on 12 April on the airline’s regional and domestic network, alongside other aircraft types in the fleet, including the ATR72 and Airbus A320.

The only other airline outside China to operate the C909 is TransNusa Airlines of Indonesia.
