Spotters at Kuala Lumpur International Airport will soon have another option for spotting and photography when the airport opens its new official spotting area.
In a bid to transform the area around the airport and turn it into a destination in its own right, the operator (Malaysia Airports) is creating the new outdoor deck, known as Anjung Spotter, just outside the airport perimeter.
It will be positioned close to the end of runway 32L and ideal for watching, logging and photographing movements on this runway.
According to the group chief executive officer of Malaysia Airports, Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin “the outdoor observation deck will be a dream come true for our planespotter community,”
Raja Azmi also said that the Anjung Spotter will also be made a must visit tourist attraction for visitors arriving at KUL. Plans are underway to promote this outdoor observation deck. There are currently many international planespotters who fly to Malaysia to meet up with their counterparts here before going on a photography adventure at the airport. The Anjung Spotter will definitely be the next Insta-worthy spot.
Construction is set to be completed in April, and we’ll try to bring you pictures and more details about the views once it opens.

Hopefully completed in time for my trip on the 29th April.
If anyone can confirm it’s open then I’ll check it out and post a report.
That’s really great news!
Was at KLIA March 23, 2019. The support columns are done, ready to build the platform on top. Good for afternoon spotting.
