A new spotter course has been arranged at Stockholm Arlanda airport for enthusiasts to join, giving you the opportunity to get up close to the action for photography and spotting.

The course has been arranged in conjunction with Swedavia, the owner of the airport, and will be run on Saturday 19th May.

There will first be an introduction and basic spotting hints in the conference room of the Arlanda Collection after which the group will take up position at the runway for practical exercises. The main instructors on the course are retired SAS captain Rolf Larsson and Lennart Berns, a former Air Force WingCdr.

An important subject during the course is “spotter ethics”. This was noticed, by among others, BBC World Service after some Brits were imprisoned in Greece after trespassing at an air base. Many major Swedish newspapers and also TV companies have noticed the courses, leading to a great mix of people coming along.

If you wish to join in with the course, it is limited to 25 participants. The cost for the one day course is approx 30 GPB, which covers renting of the conference room.

Please note, courses are held in Swedish language (but a translator can be arranged).

Email Lennart at lennart@berns.com to sign up to attend.
