Iberia is set to become the launch customer for the brand new Airbus A321XLR variant next month and, ahead of the launch of transatlantic flights, the aircraft is set to perform a series of short haul sectors for crew training.
According to ch-aviation, Iberia will perform flights between Madrid and both London Heathrow and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airports in October and November to aid in crew familiarisation of the new aircraft sub-type.
These will take place on the following dates:
Madrid to London Heathrow: 26-31 October
Madrid to Paris CDG: 26 October to 13 November
Transatlantic Launch
As previously announced, Iberia will begin flying the A321XLR (an extra long range variant of the A321neo) between Madrid and both Boston and Washington Dulles on 14 November and 15 January respectively.
Iberia is expected to take delivery of 16 of the type in total, as part of an order placed by parent IAG International Airlines Group in 2019.

The 321XLR….the airline accountants dream…and the poor squashed up passengers nightmare ! Not a fan of sitting in an A321 for 7 hours ! Airbus will push this aircraft type to the limit, just like Boeing did with the MAX series .
