The new Airbus A320neo is with is as the first aircraft is scheduled for delivery this month to launch customer Lufthansa.
The manufacturer initially hoped to make a first delivery by the end of 2015, but delays with certification documentation has meant that slipped to January 2016. But it CEO Fabrice Brégier stated at the annual press conference in Paris that the first aircraft is now ready for delivery and that would happen within the next two weeks.
To date there have been orders for over 3,000 A320neo aircraft, which is a re-engined and modernized variant of the most popular Airbus aircraft, and is capable of notable reductions in operating costs. There are also A319neo and A321neo variants in development. neo stands for New Engine Option.
In the current list prices, which have been updated for 2016, Airbus will charge you $107.3 million for an A320neo, which is around $9 million more than the classic variant A320.
