Air China’s first Comac C919 has completed testing and was seen wearing the full livery of the airline.

The aircraft, with test registration B-002M, was employed in the tests at Shanghai at the start of August, and this will mark the way for its introduction to service with the airline.

Air China is the second airline to receive the C919, following China Eastern Airlines’ introduction last year. So far six examples have been delivered, with good results posted from crews, passengers and the airline itself over the type’s introduction.

The airline’s C919 aircraft will feature a 158-seat cabin and will feature on domestic and some international routes.

Additional good news for the C919 programme was a visit by the European Aviation Standards Agency (EASA) last month, ahead of the type undergoing formal certification to fly within the EU.

FAA certification will also follow in 2025.

To date, over 1,000 Comac C919s have been ordered, with the type hoping to make an impact on the global dominance of Airbus, Boeing and Embraer in the market.

Alongside Air China, Suparna Airlines is also hoping to take delivery of its first C919 this year.
