Two more Chinese airlines have taken delivery of the COMAC C919 airliner following a year in service with China Eastern Airlines.
Both Air China and China Southern Airlines received their first aircraft on 28 August in a join ceremony at the manufacturer’s factory in Shanghai.
The aircraft are B-919X (Air China) and B-919J (China Southern).

As yet neither airline has detailed which routes their C919 aircraft will fly on, nor when entry into service will take place.
However, this marks a major milestone for COMAC which already has orders for over a thousand of the aircraft.
These orders have come principally from Chinese airlines and leasing companies, with the type expected to feature heavily on Chinese domestic and regional route networks in the coming decades.
Yet COMAC is keen to become a serious contender to the dominance of Airbus, Boeing and Embraer in this marketplace.
