A Guide to American Airlines Special Aircraft Liveries

by Matt Falcus

American Airlines proudly commemorates its heritage with special livery schemes on a number of its aircraft fleet.

American today is the result of mergers with a number of other carriers, most notably US Airways in 2013, as well as AirCal, TWA, Reno Air and PSA in the past.

The liveries worn today reflect these former carriers, as well as US Airways’ predecessors Piedmont American West and Allegheny.

Having recently painted heritage liveries onto a new set of aircraft, these are the current details of the special livery fleet:

I like them all. However, some are pretty hard to come, by eventhough, LGA and JFK are nearby. I seen the metal polished AA and TWA liveries on radar, at JFK. The piedmont, and Allegheny, at LGA. I did caught the American West livery, A320 at LGA by cellphone, camera. Air Calin, as well, and Stand up to cancer, albeit, at a distance. The other one’s, I have, no luck. They Seldom come by.

Many people who used to fly Tran Caribbean Airways-TCA have been requesting their livery but no answer from AA. American Airlines purchased TCA in 1971.
