Budapest Airport has a nice little collection of historic airlines preserved next to its main passenger terminal, alongside the access road.
The aircraft here represent the history of aviation in Hungary, represented mainly by Soviet-era aircraft in the colours of Malev, which was formerly the national airline of Hungary.
The museum is open to the public daily from 9am, with access to some of the aircraft. All can easily be photographed.
The aircraft at the Budapest Aircraft Museum include:
- HA-MHI Antonov An-2M
- HA-MAL Ilyushin IL-14G
- HA-MOA Ilyushin IL-18V
- HA-MOG Ilyushin IL-18V
- HA-LIQ Lisunov Li-2T
- HA-BCB Mil Mi-2
- HA-LBE Tupolev Tu-134A
- HA-LCG Tupolev Tu-154B
- HA-LRA Yakovlev Yak-40
- HA-YLR Yakovlev Yak-40E
- HA-YHR Antonov An-2
This selection of photographs illustrates the aircraft you’ll see at the Budapest aviation museum. All photos are (c) Erik Ritterbach (see his Budapest Airport Snapshot here).
Our thanks to Erik for sending us these pictures.
