One of British Airways’ retro livery aircraft will return to service today after a period of storage.
Airbus A319 G-EUPJ wears the classic British European Airways ‘BEA’ red square livery, which was introduced to mark the airline’s 100th anniversary.
A series of former British Airways liveries, as well as those of its predecessors BEA and BOAC, were introduced at the time. However, with all but one being painted on Boeing 747-400 aircraft, these have since been lost when the type was retired.
A319 G-EUPJ was itself sent to storage in Madrid with an uncertain future. However, today (12 June) it returns to London Heathrow where it will once again take up short-haul services for the airline.
The first route is expected to be BA1498 to Glasgow.
Other destinations set to be served over the coming few days include Barcelona, Belfast City and Newcastle.
