Classic American Boeing 707 Operators

The Boeing 707 was a game changer in the aviation industry.

While it wasn’t the first jet airliner to fly (the de Havilland Comet got there first), it came at a time when airlines were looking for a decent, reliable and competent way to introduce jets to their fleets.

The Comet showed promise and broke the mould, a lack of range and some catastrophic crashes caused airlines to look elsewhere. The revised Comet 4 addressed these issues, but came too late to have any meaningful effect on sales.

In America, many of the major airlines opted for the Boeing 707 and its shorter 720 variant.

Here are some of the classic US operators of the 707.
