Mahan Air 747-300

The only Boeing 747-300 still in passenger service has been reactivated by Mahan Air following a lengthy overhaul.

This classic 747, with registration EP-MNE, has been targeted by aviation enthusiasts for years as the last example of the -300 variant known to be carry passengers.

However, it has been out of action for a heavy C-check, which also saw replacement engines and parts sourced from stablemate EP-MND, which is now unlikely to fly again. It is thought to have been over five years since EP-MNE last flew, when it suffered an engine failure that grounded it.

The aircraft is operated by the Iranian carrier on a mix of domestic and international routes, and began its re-entry into service with a return flight from Tehran Mehrabad to Kish Island and back. It will now be flying regularly on the airline’s network.

EP-MNE started life in 19867 as F-GETB with UTA, merging into the Air France fleet in 1992. It has been flying with Mahan Air since 2007.
