Taiwan’s China Airlines is to end Boeing 747 operations in February and retire its fleet.

The airline currently operates 3 Boeing 747-400 passenger aircraft, but with modern Airbus A330, A350 and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in its fleet, these are now set for retirement.

The airline has announced that it will retire its 747s on 6 February when flight CI2747 will fly a scenic trip from Taipei around Mt Fuji and back.

China Airlines over the course of its history has flown every variant of Boeing 747 apart from the -300 and -8.
